OPF ITCorps is a technical education program modeled
on existing apprenticeship programs. Our goal is to work with existing
workforce development programs to offer a next step in technical
training.
ITCorps program participants will have the opportunity
to be trained in the phases of the software development cycle and
a hosted internet based service. Core training will be available
in:
Software design, development and deployment
Networking
and hosted environments
Quality control
and assurance
System monitoring
and security
Installation
and implementation
Customer
support and maintenance
Requirements
gathering and business process definition
Customer
relationship management and customer service.
The program participants will be trained in "best
practices" and have the opportunity to become certified upon
completion of the program. As part of acceptance into the ITCorps,
participants will commit to a term of service. In return for their
commitment they will receive training in the latest technologies,
gain hands-on experience, provide a public service and be eligible
for an education award.
The ITCorps Program will be available to all qualified
applicants with preference given to:
Participants in existing workforce development programs
Adults-in-transition
Working mothers
Single parents
Disabled
individuals
Students
from low income communities
High School
Students
Junior College
Students
The launch of the ITCorps program is scheduled for
spring of 2003. Please check back in January 2003 for more details
