Providing access to learning opportunities

OPF ITCorps is a technical education program modeled on existing apprenticeship programs. Our goal is to work with existing workforce development programs to offer a next step in technical training.

ITCorps program participants will have the opportunity to be trained in the phases of the software development cycle and a hosted internet based service. Core training will be available in:

fill Software design, development and deployment
fill Networking and hosted environments
fill Quality control and assurance
fill System monitoring and security
fill Installation and implementation
fill Customer support and maintenance
fill Requirements gathering and business process definition
fill Customer relationship management and customer service.

The program participants will be trained in "best practices" and have the opportunity to become certified upon completion of the program. As part of acceptance into the ITCorps, participants will commit to a term of service. In return for their commitment they will receive training in the latest technologies, gain hands-on experience, provide a public service and be eligible for an education award.

The ITCorps Program will be available to all qualified applicants with preference given to:

fill Participants in existing workforce development programs
fill Adults-in-transition
       Working mothers
       Single parents
fill Disabled individuals
fill Students from low income communities
fill High School Students
fill Junior College Students

The launch of the ITCorps program is scheduled for spring of 2003. Please check back in January 2003 for more details and information on the application and enrollment process.
